Great vegan restaurant, so all food is spiritually sound! Nice regular clientele as well, one of which was a grandma who helped me navigate the menu.
My favorite Vietnamese spot, super authentic flavors! Love the people here, they're like my aunt/uncles! The location is hard to find parking, very busy area. Please come support this place, food is great and service is friendly/fast.
Every dish is so delicious. The lady server is really nice. The best vegetarian restaurant I ever ate
My grandma is strictly vegan due to religious reasons and this place was it! She usually doesn't eat anything at all at any restaurant we bring her but she was willing to eat here. I am from California and this place reminds me of those gem hole in the wall restaurants that you would find as a local. The lady who waited our table was really kind and the owner even spoke to my parents and were really cool. I ordered the curry with banh mi, my girlfriend ordered the banh mi both were good items. No complaints and I love supporting this local business.
Lunch in Chinatown, Honolulu, Hawaii... Vegan Vietnamese Cuisine? I had to try it! Knowing that metered street parking is free on Sundays, I finally had an available Sunday to go to Thuong An Lac. I asked my sister and mom if they wanted to check it out, too... They agreed! Located on the corner of King Street and Kekaulike Street, and across from Oahu Market, Thuong An Lac is a cozy, old school establishment with friendly service! The server was very welcoming to my mom! My mom and sister ordered the pho (there's only one type). It came with lots of fresh Veggie condiments. Many other bottles of hoy sin sauce, Sriracha, etc. were on the table, but they really didn't need any. My sister said that some of the textures of the "fake meats" were odd. She let me try some... ummm... maybe one was supposed to be like tendon??? I got the vermicelli with spring rolls and vegan BBQ pork. I liked the vegan pork because there was a nice outer crisp. The spring rolls had some taro in it. Overall, it was great! I'd return again and try Donna O.'s favorite dish!
Located in Chinatown, I stopped by for a late afternoon lunch. It was a Sunday afternoon and I was seated immediately and served complimentary pandan tea. This place is totally vegan despite dishes that are labeled otherwise. I had the phõ and it was flavorful. It was loaded with tons of items that I assume would replicate meat. A couple of items I couldn't eat because it did feel like it was the texture of meat products (gelatinous) in the items. The business seems to have repeat customers so service was a little slower towards me. But I was in no rush so didn't mind and was apologized to. No biggie as everyone was celebrating Chinese New Year. The restaurant itself is small and quaint with eclectic decorations but I will definitely return.
This place is nestled in Chinatown and has amazing Vietnamese vegan food! The lady that works there speaks little English so my parents were helping her talk on the phone to translate. It was so funny, you can tell it's a family owned mom and pop shop. But that's when you know the food is gonna be bomb!! There are pictures on the menu to help you choose from, but here are some of my recommendations below: We ordered the com tam dac biet(rice combo plate) and everything on that plate tasted like the real thing! They made it so similar, I was like how is this vegan? So flavorful and yummy. The pho was also a hit! They use diff types of vegan protein so you get "beef" pieces and "meatball" pieces too. Normally when I get vegan pho from other places it's bland. But this place did such a great job with the broth! We also ordered the curry and beef stew with bread. It tasted like our childhood meals except everything was vegan. Highly recommend this place for vegan and non vegans to try out.
Definitely my favorite Vietnamese place! Be kind and eat here- sooooooo delicious all their food is exceptional- the complimentary pandan jasmine tea is so refreshing! you wont be missing any meat !
This was maybe the BEST vegan Vietnamese restaurant I have ever been to. Absolutely blown away with the freshness, flavors, and service. Firstly, it feels like you are entering Aunty's home for a meal. It is a small but welcoming space. We saw locals enjoying big bowls of pho and bo bun hue on a dreary rainy winter day. We ordered the pork bun (soft, great filling), vermicelli bowl with bbq pork (omg the best thing we ate on our trip to Hawaii), and the Hainanese chik'n (simple but delicious fried mock meat and I couldn't stop eating the rice). Make it a point to visit this excellent spot, you won't regret it!
This Vietnamese vegetarian place is really good!! I came here with the bf, dad, and mom's friends who were visiting from Thailand. They were all vegetarian and more on the strict side of no garlic or onions. This place was very accommodating with that request. The inside has about 5-6 small tables so if you have a party of 4 they can definitely fit you there. Very cozy I would say lol but I forgot to take other pictures and only took my own bowl of noodles!! Since I don't eat beef this was the closest I would get to trying a bun bo hue but vegetarian version. Also if you try this place you must try the summer rolls!! It is so good!!! I would definitely recommend this place to others who are vegetarian and would like some tasty Vietnamese food. It is located in Chinatown and would suggest parking in that public parking lot near the police station or if you lucky, street parking. My dad is not a vegetarian and he likes the food here!! That definitely says how tasty her food is! Also it's like one aunty that cooks and she has maybe one more person helping. So if you haven't tried, definitely recommend to go!!
